The Three Wells - Well 3

accumulation investment retirement well3 wells Nov 20, 2020

As I have mentioned in previous blog posts, we categorise personal wealth in the accumulation phase of life into three 'Wells'.

To recap,

  • Well 1 refers to Liquid funds (<12 months)
  • Well 2 is our Living, lifestyle, and leisure (2 to 5 years).

And lastly is Well 3 which is what I speak more about in this video today.

Well 3 – Longer term and legacy (to retirement & beyond)

These are your safer, long-term investments that you ideally never have to sell until your retirement, typically including property and, for some, safe investments in large, established, systemic companies which throw off strong income streams.

If you manage your first two wells successfully then you may never need to touch these assets. And they can ultimately form a legacy for your kids, or for other family members, or for a charity of your choosing.
