This is how to incorporate travel into your plans

How to travel regularly, in comfort

I'm just wrapping up what has felt like a pretty long trip, which has taken in metropolitan and country New South Wales, Melbourne for Grand Final week, a bit of regional Victoria, a decent stretch of the east coast, and Far North Queensland, including the reef.

Many of us have a desire to travel, especially as part of our retirement or semi-retirement plans.

But the idea of travelling for months on end and living out of a suitcase also isn't that appealing to most people.

That's especially true as we get older and more and more used to our home comforts.

Circle of security

What can make regular overseas or interstate travel more palatable is to visualise having a base from which you can break away for regular trips.

In between each trip you can return to your home or base in order to recharge your batteries - both figuratively and perhaps even literally - and to get things back onto an even keel.

Once you have caught up on quality sleep, paying the rates bills, cleaned your clothes, and regained the comfortable sense of routine, you can then begin to think about your next trip.

Practice makes perfect

Like most things in life, the first time you go through this process, it can seem like a lot of hard work.

Organisation, packing, flights, and booking accommodation and transport options can all take their toll.

But also, it does get easier with time and practice.

I discussed this a little further in the short video below:
